Stewardship

The Joy of Giving and Stewardship

Through The Joy of Giving, you have the opportunity to support Jordan’s mission by sharing your time and talents through Stewardship.

What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is a form of discipleship. We are acting as stewards of God when we care for and use all that we have been given by God, including the gifts of our time, our talent and our material possessions, such as money.

Stewardship applies to both worldly goods and giving of ourselves in doing the Lord’s work. Stewardship means:

  • giving of your time – as a volunteer to a church cause and/or ministry,
  • applying your talents – identifying an expertise (spiritual or natural gift) that you may share with Jordan , and
  • sharing your treasures – proportionately, from your accumulated resources through tithing.

Each of you has been blessed with God’s many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gifts generously and well. (1Peter4:10)

How can I initiate my giving?
Based on varied forms of Stewardship, there are multiple channels available to you:

  • Time and Talent: Volunteer. Contact the church office, Pastor Jimmy Lee or any church council member to learn about how you can help.
  • Treasures: Regular giving is done through your church envelopes at any Sunday’s service and/or through the ‘Simply Giving’ online giving program.

Any person can give at any time.

How is it applied?
Stewardship relates directly to general church giving via the Sunday’s offering plate and ‘Simply Giving’. It is applied to the overall church budget items such as administration, ministries, payroll, property, mortgage and benevolence, and special needs.

Why give at all?
All shall give as they are able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that has been given you. (Deut. 16:17)

Simply Giving
Simply Giving is a Stewardship Program, fully endorsed by Jordan Lutheran, that enables our members the opportunity of electronically processing their Church offerings. This is especially beneficial for Sundays that members are unable to attend church, but still wish to give.

‘Simply Giving’ is a convenient and very safe way that Jordan members – through a form of electronic (via the internet) giving, are able to offer consistent financial support to Jordan Lutheran Church. By participating in this program, you, as members can use credit card, debit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT) to give your weekly, semi-monthly or monthly financial gift.

For further information, please see the Simply Giving Application or contact the Church Office at 610-395-5912.

Electronic Giving is the term used to describe automatic methods for making contributions on a regular basis without the need to write checks, carry cash or prepare envelopes. Although Direct Debit Giving is the original and most popular form of electronic giving, the term is now widely used to describe Credit & Debit Card Giving and Online Giving as well.
